Carry Conceal Security Ministry for your Church

Posted by Conservative Culture On December - 11 - 2007

Here is a good one from Buckeye Firearms. In light of the Columbus legislators and banning guns in churches… here is an idea to take to your church. Have a permit? Be on the security ministry team.

[Buckeye Firearms] I know of another church that has taken similar measures. The church at which my late father-in-law pastored in Tennessee recognizes that large amounts of cash in the building on any given Sunday was an attractive target, and encourages ushers who had concealed handgun licenses to carry. No doubt at least some of those in the pews do the same, just as I did when I attended services there. The potential mass murderer or enterprising druggie hoping to steal thousands of dollars in tithe money will most certainly not be allowed to carry out his plan for mayhem in that place.

At my church in Ohio, where I am involved as a youth coach for high school students, it is a different story altogether. On Wednesday nights, more than 150 students attend, many of whom are visitors, or students whose families do not attend services on Sunday and who are unknown to the youth leaders. Current events have proven (in spades, with many involving attackers who were young) that no matter what size the town, no matter what kind of facility, etc., the potential for a multiple victim public shooting is possible.

In fact, research proves that at least 90% of multiple victim public shootings happen in places where guns are banned.[12] Yet legislators in Columbus have neither the wisdom nor foresight of the Colorado and Tennessee church leaders I just mentioned. This simply should not be.

ACT NOW: Ask the leaders in your place of worship if you and fellow CHL-holders can be a part of a ‘’security guard ministry”[13]. And tell your legislators that places of worship shouldn’t be treated differently in the law than any other private property in the state of Ohio. Finally, please join me in praying that these decision-makers act to allow the flock their right to self-protection before the next wolf comes out of the woods.

What an interesting idea… carrying firearms in church. I can think of nothing more damaging to the sanctity of a house of worship than a corpse, personally. If someone wants the tithe, perhaps they need it more than the electric company, but then again, drastic measures are usually…drastic.

Imagine your service, gospel ends, collection, shooting, and then what? Communion? I’m sure Jesus would appreciate that. It’s amazing, most people have to wait until the traffic jam after service to denounce the teachings they just recieved, however, you’ve managed to figure out a way that they can denounce the teachings as they are taught. Kudos!

Way to turn the other cheek, guys! Very Christ-like you Christians are.

The carring of a weapon at the church is not to prevent theft of the offering. The protection offered by a security team is for the person coming in to do serious damage to the members of the church. Protecting God’s people is of utmost importance. I know that God can strike the person down in the parking lot but as I have read the New Testament it seems that God works thru his people. To have a person present with a gun for protection of the church seems to be allowing God to use that person to protect the members. Remember that Gun-Free zones have been getting people killed since 1991. The latest mall shooting was a gun free zone. People react in many different ways to stress. Some will blame God and His church for their problems and want to take their grief out on the local church. The security team is to prevent that person from killing.

As stated above, the reason for CCW in church is not to stop a robbery but instead to stop the active shooter that keeps reoccurring at our schools and churches. Look at Virgina Tech with 32 dead verses New Life Church in Colorado with only 2 dead. The difference, a volunteer security team member with a legal CCW permit.

I have been the director of church security here in the Dayton area for the past 6 years.
My members have strict rules on when the use of a sidearm is authorized, it is not to stop a robbery. The money can easily be replaced but a gunfight in the church is a terrible situation that must be avoided if possible.

When I first put together a team, there was virtually no information available. About a month ago a friend and I stated to post items of interest to the church security community. We have listed a number of items such as recommended training, sample polices for the security team, medical team, incident reports, training videos on ASP batons, physical restraints, deadly force, low profile CCW and a presentation to the church management on why a team is needed. Please check it out.

Very good. Thank you for this information. I fully agree with the statement. The purpose of the CCW isn’t to save material items but to save lives. Every church should have a use of force policy and training.

If you haven’t checked out the link above please do.
