Huckabee Only Candidate Still Touting Fair Tax
January 29, 2008 |
What will happen if Mike Huckabee manages to move into the #1 spot in total delegates from his current #2 spot. Sure there is Florida but the real day is next Tuesday. If Huckabee is able to do that then there will still be an advocate of real tax reform. If not then it looks like more of the same or worse should the other side get in.
What surprises me is that Americans scream about government waste, paying too much in taxes and then the Republican party manages to vote for men like McCain. Perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad except for those 3 notorious bills that bear McCain that win him no favor here. For all the complaints I have heard about Huckabee on taxes and felons I remember similar complaints about the Governor from California. But once one heard Reagan you knew there was something different. Huckabee has been one of those candidates for me. I would rather take my best shot on someone touting the right platform as his agenda than one whose agenda I already know won’t be conservative and is silent on the platform issues.
Perhaps after next Tuesday it still won’t be over and the campaigning will come to Ohio. Sure would be nice to see Huckabee here in Northwest Ohio. Especially in a state that suffered under liberal Republican (or was that Dem) Gov. Taft. Wonder who DeWine and Voinovich are endorsing. That should tell you something.
PENSACOLA, Fla. — Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee said Sunday he is counting on the traditionally conservative Panhandle to push him to a strong finish in Florida.
“We knew we needed to get to the Panhandle, it is a very, very critical area,” Huckabee said. “The Panhandle is historically a very conservative part of Florida and that would be an ideal constituency for us. I wish we could spend more time here.”
The former Arkansas governor met with supporters and held a news conference at a small airport Sunday night.
Early Sunday, he told a supporters at a rally in Jacksonville that he is the only major candidate supporting the “fair tax,” a proposal to replace federal income taxes with a 23 percent national sales tax.“It’s fair. It’s flat. It’s finite and it’s family friendly,” he told a crowd of about 300.

Huckabee supporters…a plea from a fellow conservative here. I think most of you understand just how liberal McCain’s main achievements in the Senate have been, linking up with extreme liberals like Feingold of California, Kennedy of Massachusetts, working closely with Hillary Clinton, etc. If McCain wins, all conservatives lose, and in a big way likely to last for years. The ONLY way we can stop McCain is to have you guys join us in supporting Mitt Romney on Super Tuesday. Please consider this. I believe it is critically important. Don’t forget the McCain crafted the bill that had it passed would have given all illegals a chance to stay in the U.S. the rest of their lives with only a minor fine to pay. Don’t forget that McCain-Feingold was a direct restriction of the First Amendment guarantee of free speech. Let’s unite for conservatism! This is a link to one of your fellow Huck supporters who just decided to change his vote to Romney…they explain why here: http://huck2008.blogspot.com/2008/01/im-endorsing-mitt-romney.html
