Tragic Death by Police Raid spur Race Baiting

Posted by Conservative Culture On January - 7 - 2008

Tommy Pitts, who sits on City Council, has a son arrested for dealing drugs. Now Derry Glen’s rental house was raided and supposedly found drugs. Some are calling the shooting racially motivated while the Police Chief denies that it was (I don’t know anyone who finds pleasure in the death of a mother… but that is what some are saying). Though not all drug dealers live in the 6th ward Glenn does admit they get arrested there. Drugs are a big problem and it is easier to band together against law enforcement than it is those friends, neighbors and families that deal the drugs.

Glenn stopped short of calling the situation a racial issue. He did say, however, he feels police target the 6th Ward, saying drug arrests in the area are the product of outsiders visiting Lima to buy drugs.

“Sixty-five percent of the drug dealers in here didn’t live in the 6th Ward,” he said. “They got arrested in the 6th Ward. We can’t use statistics to say why this murder was done here. We’ve been fighting this for years. This is all over the city of Lima, not just the 6th Ward. That doesn’t give justifiable cause for what happened.”

It appears that a weapon was present and that a fight over the weapon caused the shooting. More will be pending.

Lt. Jim Baker briefly spoke during the news conference about the incident with Terry and an officer that took place in the mid-1990s.
“Mr. Terry had a weapon and there was a fight over that weapon and he tried to use that on Sgt. [Ron] Connor,” Baker said.
Baker also said Wilson had spent time in prison on a drug conviction. That conviction was out of Putnam County, according to court records.
