Photo[Picture: Toledo Blade] Lots of news coming out and tensions could rise even though the city will pay for the daughter’s burial. Here are some brief snippets in the news.

LIMA — Tarika Wilson was to begin college Monday to study business in hopes of making a better life for herself and her six children.

“She was supposed to start Monday with me,” her sister, Tania Wilson, said.

Tarika Wilson will never have that chance.

A Lima Police Department SWAT team officer shot her to death Friday inside her home at 218 E. Third St. during an evening drug raid. The circumstances remained under investigation Saturday with police officials releasing few details about what happened inside the home.

A council meeting for this was arranged with 200 in attendance.

Following a Lima police officer’s fatal shooting of Tarika Wilson, 26, during a drug raid Friday night, City Council tabled its regular meeting until tonight, and opened up the floor to residents who demanded answers but received none and called the shooting murder.

“I’ve yet to hear one word: victim. The man who shot her, he’s not a suspect? What if that was me?” shouted Quintel Wilson, Wilson’s brother. “Where would I be? Locked up. No bond! Victim is the word here.”….

Many wanted to know why Derry Glenn (councilman and landlord) wasn’t notified. Many left after they were told no landlord is notified (Gee… I wonder why?). Some are wondering why the killing (their terms) wasn’t on the news. The mother was killed and the baby was injured. There has been talk that the woman killed had a warrant in Indiana but haven’t found any official word on that either. The mother was living with a boyfriend with a suspect past and was charged with trafficking drugs. None of that seems important and no questions about why they were involved in such activities. Another councilman has been freer with the race baiting than Glenn. If you don’t know who… it’s the one with the son who also has sold drugs.

Lima police long have targeted African-Americans, such as holding youths face down on the ground and pointing guns at them and then claiming they had the wrong group, alleged Councilman Tommy Pitts, chairman of council’s safety services committee.

Will calmer heads rule or will this boil over? One can only speculate but its the hot topic in Northwest  Ohio right now. If it isn’t you don’t live in or near a city.

Why don’t Black’s get this outraged when they murder their own or in drug deals gone bad? No one calls in Al Sharpton and the NAACP. When Black officers are involved in incidents it is not considered racially motivated, it was an officer doing his job. The answer is This will boil and get really ugly before things begin to calm because we have already been warned that the only justice they will accept is charges against the officer.

Each time a person is murdered and unpunished it lowers the bar for the mext murder!
With programs like cops swat and such and Rupert Murdock we have created an enviroment
to recruit sadists, satanists, racist, serial rapist and BTK TORTURE types.
Jeffery Dahmers and Ted Bundys might still be operiting if they had chosen the right cover!
Police, FBI, CIA, the military are ideal positions.
Like the military Louisville Ky keeps lowering the recruiting standards, they can’t find low class
enough people with no job and no conscious!

I’m an African American male and follower of Jesus Christ. I’m seriously concerned with this Minister Ronald Failes, pastor of Grace WorldWide Ministries (evidently in Lima Oh). His statement in the Plain Dealer, “When a man has to feed his family, he’ll do what he has to do.” A mother dead, a baby shot, and as God’s mouthpiece, that’s your message? The African American community is in crisis…far outweighing any threat from a disease, is this “ghetto” state of mind that threatens to bring a whole nation down and has already set a people back to pre-Civil Rights conditions.

The mother was not holding the baby…the swat officer, who happens to be a veteran on the police force for many years and is in his 50’s, followed the mother up the stairs yelling the entire way for her to stopr and get down. Upon entering the bedroom he ordered her again to get on the ground….she didnt and instead leaned over to pick something up…as a police officer he was well within his rights to shoot her. He had no idea what she was going for, and the baby being shot was just unfortunate. Not to mention that prior to her follwing her upstairs they had let loose their pit bulls on the swat team and they had to fend those off…..i just wish people would stop to consider a police officers point of view, and get the whole story, before condemning them for doing what they are trained to do.

Wow I like how people who talk about something they have no knowledge of and can come up with their own opinions and state them as being factual. I am a African American male from Lima, Ohio. What let me repeat that I am from Lima, Ohio. I know how the police are whether they be white or black and they follow a set of rules that do not apply to everyone. I have had guns pointed at me by Lima cops and thrown to the ground and verbally assaulted by cops while being in a calm manner. I have white friends who speed in their car but are let go with a warning. I have seen and witnessed cops aggressively handling the wrong person who was an African American. There is a different justice system in this county.

Mook, you think you are the only African-American male who gets unjustly harrassed by the police? I do not expect an “old head” to be on young shoulders, but let me school you a little bit. When the police say “Stop!” you stop. When they say “Get down on the ground”, you get down on the ground. If that cop is unprofessional,LATER, you make the necessary contacts with his or her badge number to the necessary departments, including to elected African American elected officials. Mook, it is a lot of brothers out there who is making it bad for the rest of us. By the way Mook, I’ll bet you and your family are locking your doors at night, and may have bars on your windows, not because of the Lima police, but because of the brothers they are profiling.

My dear brothers and sisters of Lima Ohio.
I presonally know how most of you fill about right now. The conserns and issues within your justice system on the city and county level. Lima always has been a closed net system. For some reasion tonight just sitting at my computer, I just google up Lima, Ohio just to touch bases. never in my life time would I have thought that any news would get out of that town. We as a people have always been fighting that fight. Most of you are probaly to young to know or remember but beat down did not just start. The lack of Equal employment and oppotunity of more black officers within the city and county police departments for your protection as a citizen is by design. My position on the subject mater of Miss Wilson, is not to add to or take away from what is clearly an unjust situation. But for what it is worth my people, with the exposure of what I have witness this evening, Help is in it’s way. Not only that, as a native son, looking from the outside in, there is a fear factor among and within our own 27% Black population. As a young man growing up in Lima, The beat downs I received, were put on me becuse I wonted somthing better out of Lima and life. Justice Education, Opportunity an Independent life style that warrent respect. One more thing befor I go. I was checking out some of the utube information that some of our local people were just venting there fillings. For those that are hurting and need to use this type of mediea, becareful please take your time and solect the proper words and diolog to exspress your fillings. Don’t fan the fire of hate. don’t let them feed off you. If you don’t know by now, the air waves the electonic communcations and enternet systems are open to the world. So Stay Faithful Stand for what is right, for God!!! will show up to Fight your Fight. (Air Born)

    Hello,

Why are so many people on this page misspelling so many words that are quite simple?
    This is very sad.

Second, this “innocent” woman would not listen to the police and as a precaution they had to shoot her. Why did they shoot the baby and why did they have to kill her? I do not know. However, many brothers and sisters are not listening to the police when they should be subordinate.
Plain and simple, when you are not doing what you are supposed to, there are consequences that follow.

i am white and what upsets me most about this is that the mother of tarika wilson is a white trash ni–er lover. on a diffrent note tarika wilson is just one less ni–er on the street selling drugs.

  14. OhioRes on August 4, 2008 8:24 pm

I’m wondering why Al Sharpton doesn’t show up when a white man gets shots by the police? Especially, since he constantly speaks of unity and equality! This officer was doing exactly what he was trained to do, and since he was white it MUST have been racially motivated. This woman knew what her “baby daddy” was doing and knowingly lived the life with him. I am so sick of hearing how whitey is trying to keep the black man down. Who are we kidding here? Take a visit to your local ODJFS office. No, no one deserves to die this way, but just like the laws she didn’t abide by, she continued up the stairs after being told to stop, and had no quams with releasing dogs to attack the police…which by the way would have been funny if only on the “down-low” in the black community.
