Lima Student Arrested for Butter Knife

Yes. Zero tolerance by golly. No Knives. It’s only a butter knife you say? But it could be used to kill someone.

What point have we come to in our culture that a butter knife warrants an arrest? For that matter of the risk anyone could kill someone with a mechincal pencil or pen. There was no threat but the breaking of policy. Did I mention that people can be strangled to death by shoelaces?

 LIMA, OHIO — Lima police arrested a high school student who said she took a knife to cut an apple for lunch.

School officials suspended the 17-year old student and police charged her with delinquency by possession of a deadly weapon on school property.A school employee saw the girl take the knife out of her lock and notified the principal. Police said the girl did not threaten anyone with the knife.Superintendent Karel Oxley said the district has a zero tolerance policy for any kind of knives on school ground.
