Lima to keep I-75 exits

March 29, 2008 |

Wow. Didn’t realize there was a possibility of anyone of the Allen County exits closing. Not sure, of all the exits, why the St. Rt. 81 would have been under consideration.

LIMA — Harding Highway won’t be losing its connection to the interstate. Closure of the interchange had been floated as a possibility during a reconstruction of Interstate 75 that is on the drawing board. Further scrutiny nixed that idea.

State transportation officials first proposed the concept during a kickoff for the Allen 75 Reconstruction project in March 2006. On Friday, Kirk Slusher, planning administrator for the Ohio Department of Transportation’s District 1, said none of the existing interchanges would be closed.

“The benefits we would have seen were not warranted based on the costs,” Slusher said during the Lima Area Chamber of Commerce’s Wake, Rattle and Roll breakfast. “All of the interchanges will remain in their current locations.”
