A new public face for the Republican Party in Allen County was selected Wednesday night by the selection committee and then approved by the Central and Executive Committee. Jim Link will replace Rhonda Eddy who was selected for the County Auditor’s position. Looks like they selected a good candidate with great credentials as well as party involvement.
LIMA — Jim Link’s outstanding credentials as a certified public accountant put him in the front of a pack of local Republican candidates and ensured his position as Allen County’s next treasurer.
During a Thursday night meeting, the Republican central and executive committee chose Link over 10 other candidates with “outstanding” resumes, said Keith Cheney, party chairman.
“His credentials hit it out of the ball park,” Cheney said. “When there are 10 other candidates with great credentials like we had, it says a lot about his experience. I am very pleased with the screening committee endeavors as well as the central and executive committees. Both selected Jim Link. He has a CPA and an MBA.”
Link, a lifelong resident of Allen County who resides in Lima, replaces Rhonda Eddy, who became the county auditor March 13 after Ben Diepenbrock went to Lima Municipal Court to take over as clerk.
Link has spent 14 years in public service — 10 years with the city of Lima’s income tax department — and he is currently the controller, or head accountant, of ProStar LLC, on South Dixie Highway.
However, Link said, more than anything he wants to be thought of as a husband and proud father of four children.
