Vermont Ready To Move On Same Sex Marriage?

The feelers are out from the state commission to find out if residents are ready to make the logical next step. To move from legalized same sex unions to same sex marriage. Sentiment has been turning dramatically after the last gasp of evangelical’s push to promote the defense of marriage act at the national level. The will of the population has wained and been lost in many sectors including many mainline congregations. Without that support the effort was reduced to a mere memory.

The Vermont Commission on Family Recognition and Protection was formed last summer. For the past 8 months, members have been traveling around the state listening to Vermonters in an effort to gauge whether residents are ready to move toward same-sex marriage.
