Unconcealed Weapon in Church

by Conservative Culture on January 4, 2006

Man bursts into a church on a Sunday evening. Why? It might have been obvious by the ski mask or perhaps it was the handgun. He did seek assistance in passing the collecting purses and wallets.

He didn’t collect cell phones which were then used to call police. As one blog points out that while larger churches have protection smaller churches are left vulnerable. Even in Ohio which has a ‘carry conceal’ law, it prevents anyone from ‘legally’ carrying a weapon into church. By law weapons are barred in church unless exempted by the congregation. Everywhere else they have to specifically prohibit it.

Certainly robbers will have a certain degree of confidence that they will be safe in church to carry out their crimes. I doubt they would be so confident if they were ‘unsure’ how many were packing more than their Bibles. Then they might be more apt to keep their own gun concealed next time and go somewhere else.
