Anglicans elect Pro-Gay Marriage Primate

by Conservative Culture on June 19, 2006

Today, the U.S. Anglicans elected their first female primate, Katherine Jefferts Schori, as the leader of the Anglicans in the United States. That in and of itself would be enough to raise eyebrows.

It would take something major for that not to be the big news. But that major thing has happened; Schori believes that gay marriage is permissible and has supported the ordination of an openly gay bishop.

Anglicans in England are seriously considering a church split.

I wonder if the Anglicans will split before the U.S. Catholics split from the Pope over the recently declared U.S. Catholic Church policy that local churches can decide for themselves whether to defy Church policy on denying communion to pro-choice Catholic politicians.
