Michelle has photos so you remember what was really on the minds of illegal advocates before they got some free PR advice. Recent protests have set off a new round of debate and tension about the leaky border. Awareness also was sparked by the recent heated debate between O’Reilly and Rivera.
Consider Family Security’s article on what is being called the invasion of America by other nation’s nationals. Want to over take America? Just overrun the border. Just wonder what the debate would look like if our neighbor was China.
Note the declaration that all people have the right to “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness” and that it is the Government’s responsibility to organize in such a way “most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness” but not actually to provide it.
This principal was further established in the U.S. Constitution of the United States which begins:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution then states:
The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence. (emphasis added)
Unfortunately in our politically-correct era, “invasion” and “domestic violence” are now parsed along with the word “is.” Regardless, our republican principals are being ignored, our borders are being trampled, our laws broken, our sovereignty violated, and our nation is under attack from outside peoples, foreign nationals, who are committing more and more domestic violence, denying citizens Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, as well as both Safety and Happiness.
What about the criminals and law breakers in America who don’t even belong here? Not too much it seems. This has gained some attention since an illegal drunk killed the director of “A Christmas Story” along with his son. Something will be done because it’s high profile.
There was a lot of coverage of Bob Clark’s death, and federal officials are actually doing something about the suspect. Even if he makes bail on the vehicular manslaughter charges, the only place he’s going is immigration detention. (Given Mexico’s attitude towards extradition, any illegal alien should be considered a bail risk, but judges don’t see it that way.)
Immigration hold placed on man arrested in Los Angeles filmmaker’s death
LOS ANGELES: U.S. authorities have placed an immigration hold on a 24-year-old Mexican national arrested on suspicion of driving drunk and causing the crash that killed “A Christmas Story” director Bob Clark and his son.The action means Hector Velazquez-Nava, an illegal immigrant living in Los Angeles, will be turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials and placed in deportation proceedings once his local case is completed. He was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol and gross vehicular manslaughter, and was being held on $100,000 bail.
If he posts bail, Velazquez-Nava will be taken into federal custody, ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice said.
In reality not many are prosecuted.
More than 5 million of those arrested were simply escorted back across the border, free to try again at another time. The Associated Press, in an analysis of federal data, reported less than three percent of the 1.17 million people arrested in 2005 were actually prosecuted. In 2001, the prosecution rate was less than one percent.
U.S. attorneys along the Mexican border are under pressure to step up prosecution of those trying to enter the country illegally. If they did get more aggressive, the nation’s jails and courts would be clogged.
It’s not a high priority of federal agents. They tend to go after the immigrant smugglers and those who enter with criminal records or criminal intent.
5 million is a daunting number and it is overwhelming our resources. Either America will have to seal the border in a cost effective way or resign itself to a completely open border. Only later will we realize what we have done. Its like a city in turmoil. Eventually everyone realizes that the authorities can’t arrest everyone… feed them and house them indefinitely. There just are those kind of resources. If nothing is done soon there just won’t be the resources to do anything and you will begin to see a collapse of the fabric of American society. Remember I am not talking about the those following the laws but about the many who flagrantly violate the law and the criminal element. An open border doesn’t allow for any filtering and we will all pay a price sometime.
