Sweden’s Muslim Riots

These aren’t over and will arise from time to time. But by this report it appears that the problems are spreading once again. Words we heard last year when the riots spread dramatically after it hit France hard. Keep your eyes pealed for more of this. Will it come to the United States? Only time will tell.

Scandimerican writes, “The Eurabian riots are spreading. All weekend, French-style riots have raged the muslim-dominated housing project of Rosengard in Malmo, Sweden’s third largest city. Rioters attacked the police when they came to the area to respond to a disturbance call. They then also attacked fire crews who arrived to put out fires that some of the rioters had started in storage buildings and recycling centers. After the first fire, the fire crews refused to enter the area without significant police protection.

Rosengard is only one of many similar muslim-dominated urban areas in Sweden’s large cities. Typically, the police do not enter those areas without heavy back-up, and in some instances they stay away completely. There are also reports of harassments toward non-muslims to make them leave. Schools and government offices are subjected to vandalism.”

Police can’t even enter the area without strong backup. The radicalized Muslim youth know who really is in charge and their boldness I suspect will increase. They don’t want assimilation as much as transforming the decadent West.

Ever heard of “social environment”? I live in Malmoe and believe this, people were fighting the police long before any larger immigration were recognized. Besides, wouldn’t you be upset if the police pointed a gun at your eight year old son or daughter?

Lexor…”social environment” ???

No disrespect intended friend, but that’s the EASY answer that doesn’t require any thinking or trying to think through any of the rather difficult questions that exist. We all need to challenge ourselves a little more…and not simply accept rote answers that a simply generally accepted in society. And I’m a Social Democrat…but I’m very much awake.

The truth is that different cultures…all around the world react to “social environment” differently. Our reactions to “social environment” come from the cultural values and rules we all carry around inside of us. Those cultural values and rules are what makes Japan to be Japan, Iceland to be Iceland, Iran to be Iran, and England to be England. Those cultural values and rules tell us how we will act and not act, how will react and not react, how we prioritize or do not prioritize ourselves, our families, our ethnic groups, or our religious groups (even if we are NOT religious).

What is happening among immigrant groups — NOT ONLY IN SWEDEN — but all across the world in our Western countries, is that they continue to thing and act (based on those cultural values and rules) very much like they did in the country they came from — and just as the people in their home countries continue to act and think themselves. It’s no suprise.

It’s why English settlers in the English colonies succeeded like the English in Britain; It’s why Swedish immigrants in the US and other counrties have succeeded as they have (and haven’t acted out against their “social environment” even if they were poor…); and it is exactly whay Iragis and Mexicans and Somalis act like Iraqis and Mexicans and Somalis…whether in THEIR OWN countries or in OUR countries.

It has very LITTLE to do with “social environment”. That is a knee-jerk, feel-sorry-for-them, politically-correct response. It places the blame always on a European or Westerner and removes any of the responsibility or blame from the “poor” immigrant or the defective life decisions that their cultural values and rules tell them are acceptable choices for behaving or believing or not behaving or not believing. It’s what makes a Swede act one way and another act another way.

To pretend this is not the case requires no thought, no reflection, no knowledge of any culture, no comparison…but, we all have a duty to look at facts, events, and information. Presently, in Sweden, due to so-called “hate speech” laws, press restrictions, out-of-control political correctness, and Swedish cultural values and rules that cause Swedes to think of and be empathetic to other people — even to the Swedes’ own detriment — and without ANY intellectual reflection. If it raises answers that could be confused for “racism” or “hate”, even an academic, intellectual debate is OFF LIMITS…both publicly and privately.

In Western countries, but especially Scandinavia, it is not possible to even consider the obvious truth that religion (even for the non-religious) is the source of culture and culture is the source of behavior. It’s what makes Scandinavia into Scandinavia…Spain and Latin America into Spain and Latin America…and the Middle East into the Middle East. And now Scandinavia is becoming…due simply to Scandinavian inaction (based in their own respectful culture and the aggressiveness of a supremicist and violent Muslim culture) is becoming the Mddle East. Lycka till Allihopa!

To social environment, your analysis is very good. I would like to specially place some of the rioters blame on their own clerics and academics who reinforce, unchallenged, the anger towards non-believers and to give authority to act out on any real or perceived criticism of Islam. Critical self analysis is very much missing from this group of people.

I am surprised to find fellow Swedes (?) here. I live in Stockholm. Sure there is such a thing as cultural differences; at times they can have dramatic consequences. On the other hand, humans have an astonishing potential for finding common ground despite such differences when sharing common projects and purposes in workplaces, neighbourhoods and other settings. In fact national cultures themselves are merely the outcomes of such processes of blending and intermingling of earlier cultural forms. And for various reasons, there has been far too little of such crucial interaction going on between immigrants in for example Rosengard and “native” Swedes.

Response to Erik: It is those who seek refuge in your Country that have to find common ground, they must obey all of your laws, accept criticism of Islam without violence, allow a Swede to date a Muslim without death threats, and they have to accept and respect European standards as they expect you to respect their cultural standards in their own Countries. How many non-Muslim cultures are getting their equal rights in the Middle East? None! Islam is just not compatible with Western democracies and freedoms. It goes against everything they believe in. There is no Jew or Christian living in a Western democracy that wants to give it up and go back to religious laws. That is the main difference.

Thank you for the excellent insight. Finally someone is making some sense and outspoken. I feel very concerned that most of the countries in Europe will be over run and conquered within a few years or at the most decades. The few countries that maintain sovereignty will be left outnumbered and fall to an invasion like the U.S. invasion of Panama. What Hitler failed to do, Islam will succeed.

This is not a riot because of the mosque! This is a riot against the police, it is also many regular Swedes taking part in the riots. It is not a muslim-riot! It is against police and the state!
