Video has Obama saying he’s not one to legalize pot but that we need to rethink the war on drugs. Knowing that he, unlike President Clinton, did inhale. That was the whole point of smoking pot. However, we have seen an increase talk of debt and the economy and future US problems with debt that is more like a looming albatross waiting to sink the American Taxpayer.
So what about boosting the economy by tapping into the underground pot economy. One article compares Obama with FDR who fixed the banks and then legalized booze. How about Obama who fixed banks and legalized a boondoggle of tax revenue?
FDR spent his first few days in office fixing the banks, and then he legalized beer. President Obama has buoyed the banks; what about legalizing marijuana? asks Keith Stroup, the attorney who founded the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws in 1970. For decades, Stroup has argued that legalizing pot would produce mega tax windfalls, and now, officials of states zonked out by the fiscal crisis—Texas, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania—are asking Stroup for the 411 on ganja green. “As smokers,” he adds, “we’re raising our hands and saying: ‘Tax us!’ ”
via Could Legalizing Marijuana Help the Economy? – Washington Whispers (usnews.com).
Already the commando raids in California have already by stopped by the Whitehouse.
Today’s topic: Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. has said federal drug officers will end their raids on pot dispensaries in California, where medical marijuana is legal. But this is only the Obama administration’s policy, and the next president could just as easily resume Drug Enforcement Administration raids. Is there a way for the feds to address this issue that doesn’t subject states and medical marijuana users to the political leanings of different administrations?
With increasing pressure of not enough prisons and increased drug violence on the border the drug issue could quickly be seen as a complete waste of limited government resources and a potential legal source of tax increases. It would also eliminate some of the violence and corruption on the border.
We are not arguing for this but see this as a natural direction we see the culture taking. Once in place it may not be only the drug war that goes up in smoke. The chef at the White House may be busy with extra snacks..

The marijuana laws are totally and completely absurd.
I graduated from college with a 3.7 GPA in biochemistry, and am now in graduate school working 70 hrs a week doing research in neuroscience at a prestigious university. I smoke pot. I also participate in mountaineering which I consider far more dangerous activity.
The marijuana laws are hype without substance, but they have serious consequences. If I had been caught in college, I would have lost my financial aid and dropped out. Then instead of going to work to advance biomedical science, I would have ended up either in some kind of unskilled labor, or used my chemistry knowledge to become a clandestine chemist (what would I have to lose after having my dream of being a neuroscientist taken from me?). Luckily I am past any need for financial aid now and don’t have to worry about it. I never really did worry about it though, since the marijuana laws are nearly impossible to enforce anyway.
So… It’s being used… it’s being bought… it should be a choice like alcohol. What’s the real difference between the two? There really is not… Pot just needs a testing system like alcohol!
i agree i believe that if it is tested in a government testing system with alcohol the people will really see that marijuana does not impare your vision in fact it doesnt even make you feel numb and it cant put you in a hospital it’s almost impossible to overdose on marijuana alcohol however has side affects like a hangeover and for instance you CAN o.d. on alcohol.
Pot hasnt killed one person, it is safe except for the smoke part, Sure it can become psychologically addicting, but in a way that anything pleasurable is worth repeating. Only 5% of cannabis smokers suffer adverse withdrawal, but similar things happen when someone gets dumped by there bf or gf. Gateway theory; its only a minor gateway because it is in the illegal realm of drugs.
LEGALIZE
Government is like a fire. It can be useful, you can warm your cave with it, it will discourage wild animals from getting too close and the smoke will keep blood sucking insects away.. you can cook with it.. But if you turn your back on it forgetting the vary nature of fire, it can engulf your home, everything you own and bring you and your family to death in unimaginable pain.
Conservatives AND Republicans of these days have forgotten Liberty.
Endless mock debates are paraded amongst the plebes, the public negotiation amongst the two management teams of slavery incorporated every 4 years as the ruling elites act out their WWF politics to decide exactly what freedoms should be robbed from the people next.
When one globalist moves tyranny as far as he could the baton is passed to the false opposition, who in turn betrays the pretext of his election just like the last president. They are all gaming you.
Few will grasp the Irony that the bill of rights was rendered on hemp.
People are so accustomed to their loss of liberty, the rationalizations, the psychology of it being for their safty or the greater good, etc.. that they will try to negotiate one freedom with another! LIBERTY IS ALWAYS YOURS, TYRANNY IS ONLY THE WORK OF TYRANTS. Marijuana should neither be Illegal nor Taxed – It’s not the goverments role to do such things.. This economic depression is the result of out of control goverment, letting the fire run wild will not fix the problem..
I think marijuana should be legalized bc of the fact I am a pot smoker along with millions of others. And the government is filling their prisons with harmless potheads. They should be saving prison cells for serial killers and rapists, instead of harmless dope smokers, which most only break one law, which is smoking pot.IF Obama would consider legalizing marijuana, the U.S. government would save millions and probably billions of hard earned tax payers money. Also, they could use that money towards something positive. For example, helping the poor fucking people in America instead of helping other countries.America needs to learn to stop fighting itself and come together as one nation instead of outcasting people who participate in the counter culture. Also, famous actors and musicians should be given the same penalties as regular american citizens, instead of getting off easy because they have a fat wallet and a little power.I know leaving a reply on this website is just like putting in a vote for president,it doesnt count.
legalize medical marijuana, Doctors and nurses have seen that for many patients, cannabis is more useful, less toxic, and less expensive than the conventional medicines prescribed for diverse syndromes and symptoms, including multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, migraine headaches, severe nausea and vomiting, convulsive disorders, the AIDS wasting syndrome, chronic pain, and many others.”
